Wycombe Radio

Needs Your Help

All the staff on Wycombe Radio are volunteers and give their time and services entirely free. In fact, they pay to be members. Our team covers all walks of life - from Students to Company Directors, with ages ranging from sixteen to sixty plus!

Whilst many are interested in radio and television as a career, not all of them have aspirations towards the media, many just enjoy being involved in a large team helping others. Those who are attracted to the broadcasting industry are actively encouraged.

Wycombe Radio can provide a sound grounding in broadcasting. Indeed, many members have moved on to professional broadcasting. However, the voice you hear over the radio is just one small part of what makes a radio station operate. There are many other interesting and demanding jobs to be done before the first recording is played or presenter speaks. We have a record library that has to be continually catalogued and updated, and our engineers have to look after complicated electronic equipment.

Wycombe Radio is in constant need of volunteers to help run our service. The tasks to be done are varied, ranging from presenting programmes, record library work, engineering, fund raising, ward visiting and administration.

We have a current need for people to join our sports team and outside broadcast crew. If you are a budding Sue Barker, John Motson or Richard Baker, why not come and join us

IMPORTANT INFORMATION - WORK EXPERIENCE - As Wycombe Radio is a voluntary organisation, we cannot cater for formal work experience.   However,we can offer you membership and training, that will hopefully allow you to take a position in a show, or even let you have your own!
IMPORTANT INFORMATION - AGE LIMIT - Regretfully, under 16s cannot be allowed membership due to insurance reasons. However, if a parent or guardian joins us, then under 16s can come along as a guest of that member, but must remain under the supervision of that member at all times.   Under 16s will not be allowed to operate any of the equipment, but will be actively encouraged to participate in the shows.
